Nowadays, we Filipinos have been very busy in our everyday lives made by numerous advancing technologies. One factor is the continuous development of the social media like facebook, twitter, instagram and other online sites that we are engaging. “We’ve been eaten by this system”, as what others said. Some Filipinos are accustoming to this system including other young or teen ones. Because of this, some are forgetting the values, cultures, traditions and the attitudes of every Filipino back then but now, others still practicing the heritage we had from the ancestors. Many different countries colonized us and changed our way of life gradually. Now, let us all take a halt and look back to the traditions Filipinos’ practiced back then. 

Who are the Filipinos? Filipinos are called to the native of the country Philippines which came from the various ethnic groups. Filipinos speak in different dialects but Tagalog is the main dialect. Many countries colonized Philippines for how many years and Filipinos adopted their way of life like how the way they get dressed, the foods they eat, the attitudes and the languages spoken. About the Filipino values, this includes their own unique collection of consistent principles, moral codes, ethical practices, etiquette, and cultural and personal values that are promoted by Filipinos to the society. Filipino values includes treating others with the respect and dignity as an equal not someone below the individual and family orientation which Filipinos give the value or importance of a family unlike in Western and European countries, Filipinos upon turning the age of 18, are not expected to move out of their parents' home and get a place to himself/herself. In other countries, the old ones are brought to the home for the aged but in Philippines, when Filipino’s parents are old enough and can’t take care of themselves, they are very rarely brought by their children to Homes for the Aged, and often this practice is looked down upon. But others really take care and hands on to their parents. Other values is the humor acquired by every Filipino that gives joy to everyone and shows the positivity of every Filipino and remain determined even at the midst of struggles and dispute. Flexibility, creativity and adaptability are values that the Filipino to adapt and be flexible in doing the tasks at times not bound to a particular schedule or timeframe. This allows them think on their feet and be creative in facing whatever challenge or task they have even when it is already right in front of them. Ability to survive is another values Filipino possesses. This shows that the Filipinos are resourcefulness and have the ability to survive on their own and on what they have. Another is hard work and industry. Filipinos are very determined and persevering in accomplishing whatever they set their minds to. Other values are faith and religiosity which shows the Filipinos as a reflection of strong faith to God. Filipinos are said to be prayerful and religious. Last is the hospitality. Filipinos are said to be friendly. A heartwarming generosity of every Filipinos to their visitors in their home captivates the heart of many foreign visitors. Filipino families will eat together and prays before and after meal. Filipinos also are kind. They used to say “po” and “opo” to the adults as a sign of respect. In the field of arts, music, dancing, sports, education, cuisine and other cultures the Filipinos have, Filipinos show they can excel over different countries. Filipinos are very competitive and can compete to different countries in these different aspects. 

Now, as we can see and observe the values and cultures of every Filipino, we can say that they still practice and maintain the traditions we had learned from our ancestors. According also to our observations, not all Filipinos are doing this. Some really practice the way of life of the countries that colonized us and forget the values we had. The attitudes of the Filipinos are not the same. Some are good but others are awful. Some will say that neighbors are their enemies. But not all neighbors are bad. They believe that their neighbors are gossiping and spread rumors about them. Some will judge you according to your actions. Others will talk behind your back. We believe that many possess these and let us change the bad attitudes that we had. As we observe today, Filipinos really excel in different aspects like beauty pageants, singing contest, dancing, arts, boxing and many more. Filipinos believe that they can stand on their own and can compete to different big countries. Filipinos are achievers

First of all, what comes to your mind when you hear the word Filipino? Is it a positive or negative thought? Before anything else, let me ask you first, for you what is Filipino? What does it symbolize? For me, Filipino is like love because love has a lot of types such as a love for a friend, family and a special someone. If we relate it to Filipino people, it also has different types in terms of physical appearances, attitudes, traits and etc. Do you want me to elaborate it more? Here is my detailed explanation about it.

Filipinos are known for being hospitable to their visitors. They serve something to them such as refreshments, delicious food, telling them to have a seat and when eating, most of the time, they give their newest set of plates for them.  As long as they are inside their house, they must provide their needs just to make them comfortable and feel at home even though they don’t have money for themselves. They also have this kind of habit when they celebrate fiestas. They prepare lots of delicious foods to make it special. In fact as much as possible they want to serve letchon on their table even though they don’t have enough money to buy, but they still find ways just to celebrate it. Filipino is also the same as love because as much as they could, they give everything to the person that they love the most even though they are already hurting themselves just to make them happy.  Sometimes too much love for someone gives us pain.

One more thing about Filipino is that, they are also known for being one of the most respectful to the elderly. They do “mano” and say “po” and “opo” to show their respect towards other people. Most countries do not value their grandparents. They just send them to home for the aged and let other people take care of them, but here in Philippines, they keep their grandparents in their homes. They take good care of them as they grow older.  They provide their needs and make them feel loved as well. As for love, we must have respect for each other especially to our own selves in order for us to obtain the love that we wanted.  And when the time comes that we already have that kind of love, we must protect what we have to keep it last.

 Have you ever came to a land that seems so mysterious? Seeing an ordinary people possess their supernatural powers? What about a land that people act so strange? A land that will change your perspective towards everything and a land that you will never forget. If you’re interested to know about it and not already went there, well I’m honor to take you there and surely you will be amazed.

  This is Philippines my beautiful hometown. It is rich in natural resources, attractive nature, a lot of different cultures, traditions, folk arts and most of all has a unique people. Now I want to introduce my fellow countrymen, Filipino. Filipinos are different in unique ways. First in the aspect of foods, If the dish is dry and fried like tuyo, daing , itlog na maalat etc. the thing that they will use to eat is their bare hands not the utensils. Because for them using their bare hands is better and more delicious. When the barkadas decided to eat some pizza they will make rivalry to one another but after that when they notice one left pizza in the table all of them will stop and starting to stare one another until one person brave enough to get it that’s the only time they will come back to their previous agendas. How about in a simple conversation? As you all know the normal conversation is just conveying words specifically to the person you talk to. But some Filipinos don’t do that. An example of it is this; “do you eat already?” boy asked and the girl answered “I’m full”. Another example, Where are you? And the answer is “I’m on my way”. That’s my fellow countrymen. Filipinos are also great in hugot lines. Nena: Ate pabili po nang kape. Tindera: Yung 3 in 1? Nena: Hindi po, yung stick to one. Its sounds funny and cheesy right? Here’s another thing that will make you surprise, when Filipinos use their supernatural powers. If they’re in a hurry and they want to make a way they will just put their hands together and raise it while walking. Of course they will have their way. In different scenario, if you want to stop the car and make a way the Filipinos will teach you to raise your one hand and that’s it the cars will stop and you can now pass in the highway freely. The most important thing to know about Filipinos is their personality of being respectful. The word “po” at “opo” is their way to respect the elders and making “mano” to them. There are also known of being creative in different ways that’s why a lot of Filipino achieve a lot of success in their lives.

  As I said earlier Filipinos are unique in many ways. Filipino can define as cheerful, optimistic, helpful, kind, hospitable, etc.  Filipino can be weird but they will make you happy and be loved. Filipino can be emotional but they will taught inspiring lessons that will touch your hearts. That is what, we Filipinos must be proud of. We are what we are. We view things in different perspectives. We live our lives the way we wanted to. We have the determination to fight for what we believe is right. We are not scared to face the world and tell them that we can. That is our true identity as a Filipino.

WHO IS THE FILIPINO? by Mariden Nillo

Who is the Filipino? Well , Filipinos are very respectful. Filipinos are thoughtful. In short, Filipinos have a good are well grown. But what if Filipinos are like the animals? What will gonna happen?

We, Filipinos always compare our fellow citizens to the animals. But why? Maybe animals have no manners. But ssme as we, they also have sensitive feelings. So if they are a Filipino, for example a Filipino monkey. As our Prof gave an example, Filipino has a super powers, the first one is like putting your hands together and go in front, People will automatically give way to them. Imagine if the Monkey do that, that's funny to see right? But on the other side, it is a good thing that monkey will do, because in the first place, others won't be scared to the monkey, instead they will give respect for ot because it is new to their eyes.

The next is, what if we have a tiger and a lion who is talking and saying "Po and Opo" ane doing our tradition which is "Mano" to their fellow lions and tigers. How funny is it that they have a scary and fierce look and yet they are doing those things. So imagine all of the animals do what we used to do everyday, I think all places that have different animals will become peaceful and happy :)

       What are the characters of being a Filipino? Do you agree that Filipinos are survivors? We can reflect this to our love ones who are OFW. They leave the country to work and invest for the future of the family. To overcome the sadness and loneliness of being far from their family is to just work really hard and their always thinking that they're working for their families and also applying a Filipino character which is not giving up and always gives a smile whenever in hard times.


The positivity of Filipino is the key to survive. Since time immemorial we are tested by thousand of calamities but we stand and recover by helping each other. We still smile and laugh even though there's a lot of problems that we are encountering. And another thing of the characteristics of being Filipino is being humble, and hospitable which foreingers like about us. 

The character of being a Filipino is just like beauty of our islands that we have natural and pure. Hmm, what can I say? All I can say is Filipinos are such unique and amazing.

    Why are Filipinos unique unlike other countries? Our modesty has been molded through numerous experiences against other countries. But back then discipline was not taken very lightly and was strictly implored. But current society demands lighter ways of running discipline on people and children alike.

    If we can remember, there was a thing called a “death penalty” and people were afraid of committing serious crimes specially murder and lets not forget the "DRUG ADDICTS" that is currently experiencing the wrath of our president today. Unlike other countries, us Filipinos were freed by our heroes that fought for our country against other countries that tried to colonize us. That made us more relaxed and worry less about these kind of things.

        But still we Filipinos did not loose our love and care for our country. There are still Filipinos who cherish the efforts of our heroes. They choose to protect and make sure the history will always be remembered. We are Filipinos proud through and through.

We all know that Filipinos are known for having the most unique culture. Filipinos are also known because of having "superstitious beliefs" that they inherited from their ancestors that are passing up to this generation. They are known in many different ways.

"Filipi-knows", we all know that we can define if a person is a Filipino through the unique trademarks that only Filipinos do. Filipinos have a lot of trademarks, like being known for having a good personalities. Filipinos are adventurous person, they always tend to go in other places just to satisfy their happiness. Filipinos are hospitable and accommodating. Filipinos are known to be resilient in dealing the difficulties and situations in life. They are also known for being a lovable and caring person.

There are a lot of facts that you need to know about Filipinos. We should know their personality before we criticize them. Some may have a bad personality but not all of them.

Who is the Filipino? And how much do we know about the Filipinos? Do we really know every detail about it? And also how do we know if he/she is true-blooded citizen of the Philippines?

Filipino is known as the happiest people wherein they could still wear their brightest smile in their faces despite all the circumstances they face no matter how hard life is. You're not a Filipino if you don't celebrate fiesta or without preparing some foods like we traditionally do. Just like a family who doesn't have enough money to buy and cook dishes for the fiesta however they would still find a way to prepare for it like borrowing money from a friend and allowing visitors to their house to give or share what food do they have that makes also the Filipino known as being hospitable. See? How could Filipino people do such things like these? And that would make me really something to be proud of.

Those kind of traits will truly enrich the tradition and culture of Filipino. And I must really say that I'm lucky to be a Filipino and it really means a lot to me. I, a 100% Filipino citizen being able to serve my country with all my heart, mind and soul

                     I can describe Filipino as a broom, because according to Merriam Webster, broom is a type of bush that has long, thin branches and yellow flowers. For me, We, The Filipinos, are the thin branches of the broom and the Long bush is our president, Rodrigo Duterte. I can relate the broom and we are the thin branches of the broom that stick together no matter what. We can do all things when we are cooperating to other people right? A broom is sturdy because its strands are tightly bound. In people, we will gain strength by standing together. The long bush that protects the thin branches of the broom is our President because He is protecting and guiding us in our needs or the country needs.

     What  makes a Filipino, A FILIPINO? What does make a Filipino? The only thing we know is that Filipino is our kind, our blood and pride and that it is a proud race and nationality we belong in. But the real question is, "Is this really the definitive standard of being Filipino?". Each person is unique in every way hence the term "individual", but if this was true how can we differentiate which person is Filipino? Filipinos are known as very hospitable and always welcomes people with very whole-heartedly.

      We Filipinos are one of the only countries where extended families exist. To us, family is of utmost importance and we treat them as such. We Filipinos are also a very strong race of people, we may be very kind, that does not define us as weak people but rather we fight very hard. We have immeasurable courage as proof were storms and other disasters we faced. Instead of rebellion to each other and the law we chose to stand together and withstand such disasters. Current society however is mostly led by technology following mindless actions, but does this really apply to every individual like for example ourselves? Can we admit that our brains are not working anymore but rather, replaced with our cellphones? Of course not, "Man is greater than machine". Now does this relate to the question at hand? Again of course, if one would read the newspaper this affects everyone as such this does concern us.

       Now then, "WHO IS FILIPINO?". Nothing really much has changed in Filipino but not society. But being courageous people, not even the general society has changed the classic traditions such as saying "po" and "opo". This is definitive proof of the uniqueness of Filipinos. After all the countries that decided to colonize in our country we decided to fight for freedom with which our traditions stood its grounds up until now. Much of civilization has already been affected by foreign countries. But this does not deter or change the three reasons in which Filipinos can be recognized. "Kindness", "Hospitality" and "Courage" are three main ingredients to being proudly FILIPINO.

          There is a wide range of colors known at the present time. There are also a variety of them. Some are light, some are dark, and others are neutral. Some are also bright and some are dull. We also have basic and advanced colors.

These different colors can be compared to Filipinos. Why? It's because if there are variety of colors so as the variety of Filipinos. Some are tall and some are small. Some are thin and some are fat. Some have light skin tones, some have dark ones, and others may have normal shade. But other than the physical attributes of Filipinos, it can be in a way we look at others. As we know/observe, light colors like blue, pink, white, and green are soft/cool for the eyes, just like some Filipinos we may not know each and one of them but when you look at them you feel comfortable and you'll know that when you need help, they always have their hands and ears for your aid. Other colors like yellow, orange, and red are somehow warm to the eyes, you know the kind of people who look like "mataray", that you'll think twice on approaching them. Nevertheless, there are lot of colors and that each of them has their own meaning and value just like us Filipinos. 

There may be lot of colors but I can say that Filipinos are one of a kind. You can find others that seem alike but you can't find anything/anyone just the way it is. We are unique in our own little ways and that makes us stand out, it makes us the brightest and prettiest color possible. We may not always be on top but that doesn't mean we're not one of a kind.

        They say that Filipino has the ability so smile even there are many problems, troubles in their lives. They are always positive when it comes to many problems their are facing right now each smiles has a lot of different meanings.


Despite in hardships in their work, problems in the society and other different problems that they may facing it today they are always smiling at the end of the day, we are all positive when it comes to the problems we are experiencing today because we are happy go lucky, instead of thinking the bad sides of our problem and see the negative in every situations we are focusing on the postive thoughts and even if we didn't know what will happen and even if we expecting the problem to be settled it will never end it with a smile. There must be a difficulty and instances in our life but it will help by the power of smile, we Filipinos known as the "Happiest People" that other people see that we never had a problem, but the truth is behind each smiles of the Filipino people, they may be struggles but we are conquering it with smile.

It doesn't mean that you are avoiding the problems, but if we don't have nothing to do with it, just smile. Like we are doing always when we saw someone we know in some places, It can be also the best gift you may gave to the special person, to make them smile and make them laugh even we are facing problems.

When can you say that you're a  Pilipino? There's a lot of characteristics and norms that proves that we're natural born Pilipino. Among these characteristics and norms are being polite, respectful of elders and hardworker. Pilipinos are also hospitable, friendly and they tend to always smile despite the challenges. Those characteristics make us unique and special among different countries around the world.

Pilipinos show their respect of their elders through norms such as "pagmamano" or saying "po and opo". Pilipinos are also known around the world for being hospitable and friendy. One way of showing hospitality is through offering something when there's a guest. Filipinos is known for being a hardworker. We have a lot of OFW in different countries to give their family a support and whatever they need. Pilipinos are also diverse in term of languanges. We have more than 170 languages.

Those characteristics is filipino pride and can only be seen in a true Pilipino. Our culture is different but that doesn't stop us from being friendly among people from different countries. We are also harworking. We tend to do whatever it is for our family. We are really one of a kind.

                             Other's see Filipinos to be the happiest people on Earth. Loves to entertain people and very hospiable. Filipinos show respect in a different way, like the "pagmamano" in Filipino term and it is usually done to older individuals. Filipinos love adventures that's the reason why most of them are eager to trave the world. When problems and challenges come their way, they make sure to face it with a big smile on their faces. Even when there's no more hope, they still find ways to cope up. They never let sadness overrule them. Filippinos are loved by everyone.

                              One of the most admired attitude of every Filipino is being conservative. They believe in marriage that it is sacred and every couple must be blessed by God before they begin to be with each other. A Filipino man is true a gentleman. They respect women so much. They show care even when it is not needed. Lastly, Filipinos have this family ties that even if each member has it's own family as well,they make sure to be involve in each others family and that is the reason why Christmas is very special. FAmilies bondand stick together during these days.

Filipino are the people who are native in the Philippines. Their language was Tagalog. You can discern Filipino on their culture, bearing, speech and their characteristics. Filipinos have deep-rooted values that can be seen in the way they live. Filipinos also value their family, they have called close family ties or extended families were lolo, lola and some titas and titos stays with the family.

You can recognize Filipino on their mannerism like they eat with their hands. They nod upwards to greet someone, they bless (Mano) to the elders. They position their foot up on the chair and rest their elbow on the knees while they eat. You can also distinguish Filipinos on their thoughts like a tree that full of fruits is what being pelted with stones. You can also identify Filipinos while they playing basketball without slippers.

Filipinos are different in unique ways. That is what, we Filipinos must be proud of. We view things in different perspective. We live our lives the way we wanted to. We have the determination to fight for what we believe is right. We are not scared to face the world and tell them that we can.

  Filipinos are well-known for being brave people. Filipinos are wise thinkers. Filipinos are known as respectful people. The Filipinos are friendly and good in socializing. Filipinos have a big heart, but despite of these good characteristics of Filipinos, "who are really the true Filipinos?"

 "Filipinos are brave." During some centuries invaders colonized our country many brave Filipinos fight for our freedom despite of knowing that their lives are in danger or they might die. They sacrifice their lives in order to have our freedom. Filipinos use their own strength to fight even tho they know that they don't have enough equipment to fight back. The second is "why Filipinos are wise thinkers?" During the Spaniards colonization lots of Filipino think of a wise plan on how we can get our freedom. An example of this Filipino is our very own national hero Dr. Jose Rizal who fight of our freedom through thinking and in writing a novel. To let Filipinos open their eyes and see how Spaniards take control our own country. "The third question is why Filipinos known as respectful people?" Filipinos are respectful by saying "po" and "opo" in talking to elders. We use this kind of language to show respect. The fourth question "why Filipinos are friendly?" Filipinos are friendly because we are used in having friends who accompany us. We feel incomplete without having true friends. And the last question "why Filipinos have a big heart?" Filipinos have a big heart because we accept people who we truly love even if they commit mistakes, and having imperfections. We also have big hearts because we are merciful. We also have pure hearts.

  I can say that I am a true Filipino because these characteristics also describe who I am. I am proud to be a Filipino for having these characteristics in my nature and culture. I want these characteristics of being a Filipino, bear-fruit in me as I carry the nature, culture, and tradition of being a true Filipino.

My title is Filipino Own, why? Because we are talking about the attitude of the Filipino's , why Own? Because many things are only Filipinos know that thing and we own it.

Who is Filipino for me? For me Filipino is always smiling whenever you in poverty situation. Filipino is the one that will give faith to you and respect you. We need to patronize our own products because if its not the other countries will not buy our Filipino products. Filipino people are religious they have only one faith. Pinoys are fighter, Filipino look at himself as one who thinks, as one who acts and proud of his human dignity.

       Filipino culture is one of the reason why foreigners (eg, tourists) love to visit or even stay here in the philippines; from the food and tourist spots to the welcoming aura and hospitality of every filipino citizen. These cultures and traditions are because of the various influences of other nations due to the era of colonization. However, despite of the colonizers who tried the way early filipinos live long ago, the remains of the local beliefs and traditions still are very evident among the people of this country. In fact, it is very well appreciated in every part of the world since filipinos are everywhere around the globe. In addition to this, what is more interesting about filipinos are the beliefs that are being passed on from one generation to the next and that still remains the same over time are those that do not have, up until how, a scientific proof, or the so-called "SUPERSTITIOUS BELIEFS"
        Coming from the old people are the belief that are very superstitious that they even influence he's life. Part of the colonizers of the Philippines are the Hindus, who are the reason why Filipinos cling to this practices that are being valued up until now, by some, For their day-to-day life. If you are living with ur aunts,uncles and grandparents under one roof, it is a stare thing that you have already heard one of these supertitious beliefs. Example of this are the bad luck that you can get if you encounter a black cat outside because it means that something dangerous might happen along the way, while the black ants inside the house means that money is coming. these are just dmfew examples of the beliefs that are really giving today's generation a headache since they are not very practical but still, these are the beliefs we follow and might as well share to the generations after because as they say, " Nothing is at stake even when you follow these practices."
        In conclution to this, I can say that the culture and tradition of Filipino are very rich, which is why every one should give importance to it. These traditions are what defines and differentiates our society from other countries. One thing that should make us proud as a Filipino is the fact that all of us are one in patronizing what is buts and not idolizing the others. Let us all be proud of being a PINOY by enriching and learning our traditions, beliefs, practices and our culture and preventing it from being extinct because this would mean that we have already been eaten up by the foreigners even more so, Filipinos will be forgotten.

                    Filipinos are everywhere, Filipinos are the people identifies with the country of Phlippines. Different people, different places, different beliefs and traits. Filipinos have all the great traits a nation could have. A filipino who loves their nation. They are the one who understand our nation. Filipino knows best when it comes in strategize.

                   Filipino is not only for looks or physical appearance only but in a heart its all about loving. I should say its all about loving because Filipino loves their family. Filipinos are hardworking people. Eventhough some of the filipinos are short in money they will pursue in hardworking just to give what their family needed. Filipinos also have characteristic of being hospitable. We filipinos if we have guest or  another people in our house we greets him/her a warm welcome.Filipinos have strong family ties and religion. Filipinos value their families so much they go to church and pray together they create a strong bond with each other marking God as the center of their lives.

                  Many foreign people thinks that Filipinos have the warmest heart. Filipinos have this trait, in where if they had a lot of problems, they still smile. A smile that can affect others and help others. A smile that can melt a heart. Smiling is one way of saying "Everything's gonna be alright". No matter how strong that problem or calamities are we always smile.

            There are different traits of Filipino that until now still remain. In these traits we can show how we treat other people. Maybe one of the reasons why tourists visited our country is because of the Filipino traits. We are recognize as Filipino in having these traits.


             Being hospitable is one of the most popular traits of Filipinos. We are good in welcoming guest. We are also known in having unity. We will see it when they are some community works or there are some problems in the community. Even though our country is affected by different calamities, Filipinos still strong enough to stand by their feet. We are also known for being creative in different ways. For example, the posters and how the people use different materials to produce into a different kind. Filipinos show thriftiness by shopping wisely and saving money. We as a Filipino also known in using "Po" and "Opo" when we are talking to the elders to show some politeness and respect to the people. Lastly, Filipinos are family oriented. They are making big sacrifices for the future of the family. Like what parents do,they are willing to work abroad to give the needs of their children.


          Despite of many changes happening, the Filipino traits cannot be change by anyone. We need to establish it and we should be proud that we are Filipino.

            Who is the Filipino? We have a lot of impressions on who we are as a people in general, as a person, as a citizen and as a member of this globalized society. But who are we really? The Filipino has changed brought by many factors, the Filipino is no longer who he was, from a not so very long time ago. In this essay, I will be comparing the Filipino to an apple; fresh at first yet after bitten, would gradually spoil, go dark and dry-up. This is the people we are now.

            The Filipino is a good-natured bunch, we are so much caring and hospitable, it is said that no-one is turned away from a Filipino household whether it be home or abroad. No-one was turned a blind eye to, no-one was left hungry, everyone shared; the Filipino was what it was, a National Utopia which foreigners envied off for their generosity and resilience. There was a time when Filipinos were Morally indefatigable; morals were, and always were, a part of the daily culture. Sex outside marriage was unthinkable, a couple or two may fall from grace but they’d own up to it, raising the child no matter what is at stake. It wouldn’t be imaginable to curse in public; those who do so are either drunkards or maleducated people or “un-churched”. But where have we gone to now? We have bitten too much of a piece of the apple of what it is to be a Filipino, we got to chew it all the way but haven’t finished it up, we ate only a bit and began to turn away and saw different apples of colonialism and modernist-hedonistic attitudes, we have spoiled the Filipino “apple” and let it rot in the wind, exposed to all the air, rotting we turned away from it and let it spoil out, those who dare to bite into the apple are either rebuked by our society who continuously chew on the “new and fresh” apples of hedonism and foreign mentalities, constantly forgetting on who we are, on what we are as a nation, as a people.

            The other side of the apple has rot away, but we can still salvage this apple, we can still salvage the other side, unbit and fresh. We can still start a new. We can still be the Filipino who we are, not the Filipino the rest of the world wants us to be.

Who is the Filipinos? The Filipinos is a native of the Philippines. The Philippines is  a southeast Asian country consist of seven thousand one hundred seven islands. In what aspect they are known for? Why they are unique Filipinos? Do all Filipinos doing good? Let us know more about about Filipinos.

The Filipinos are well known for being hospitable. In other word we are guestfriendly. We Filipinos when it comes to our guest we are very cordial and generous towards them. We don’t just entertain them but also we serve them delicious foods and snacks and sometimes lounge. We don’t just treat them as visitor but as a member of the family instead. Because we Filipinos are good-hearted inspite of all the challenges that we’ve been through. Many calamities, tragedy, and war has passed. But we accept, forgive, learn, and start a new beginning.  Because we used to it, we even take to smile even at the most hardest time that’s why we have the city of smiles. Because it represents how joyful and courageous are we. That’s why we called unique Filipinos for having power to give someone a hope simple as smiling back at them. Not only that but also because of our politeness from saying “po” and “opo” in talking to the elder people and showing courtesy to our grandparents by kissing their hands.

Filipinos is just truely amazing in every ways. Filipinos may be brave but gets sweeter when it comes to their loved ones. We all know that there are some Filipinos who is corrupt and gambler, that’s why our country is still facing hard times with poverty.  But let us look on the positive side of Filipinos because if there are many bad guys, majority are the good guys.

  One of the known animals in the Philippines is the carabao. It is said to be the Philippines' National animal, they are always side by side with the farmers. Hardworking that is what they are. Carabao and Filipinos are similar in many ways.

 We have that phrase "Kayod Kalabaw." Filipinos are known for being hardworking, even nights they make it days they never stop working even if it comes to sleepless nights. Men and women are now equal. The jobs that are for men, women do and vice versa.  Rather than only the father working, now both of parents are earning money for their family. That is what we are; it is our nature to do any kind of job without hesitation even if it means leaving the family and working abroad just like the Overseas Filipino Worker’s life. But not only on work but also in studying, giving more time to do other things rather than ourselves. We become selfless when it comes to our families. Giving them everything even though we will be left with nothing.
 Waiting never stops from commuting, to work and many more. We Filipinos are used to wait from paying at the counter, ordering food or just waiting for a friend. We enduring all the things that comes with it, spending our time for the things we love. Just like a carabao on the farm who is enduring all the heat and exhaustion with its farmer so in the end they’ll get the crop they needed. But as we face and experience new technology we are now becoming lazy. Slowly turning into that “Juan Tamad” from that precious carabao we once been. Choosing the easy way rather than being patient and waiting for the fruitful result.  We become selfish, wanting everything even though others will be left with nothing. Where is that carabao that I once knew? We now became sloths that done nothing good.

We should remember where we started and still possess the attitude that we have inherited. Be the carabao is this world full of sloths. Be the Filipino that the country can be proud of.

                             In our past generation, Filipinos used to serve the Eagle as the our national bird in our country. Until now, it was still known by the society that represents the qualities of a Filipino. Freedom is what a bird represents, and that is what we want to our country.

                            Philippine Eagle was considered as the rarest species in the world according to the experts. Filipinos are different among of all people around the world. Those qualities and characteristics are used to present who really Filipinos are. An Eagle has a lot of things that can be able to do. It is among the tallest and largest and also most powerful birds in the world, as they say. Do you realized how strong we are? Against to the challenges we face. A strong and powerful heart of a Filipino gives the appearance of an Eagle. Continue flying of a bird is like pursuing our goals. That is one of the characteristics that we uplift. Spreading it's wings through the air gives us a strength to face the problems in our life.

                         Just never stop flying whatever happens, just how we take the challenges in our life.

     Lady Gaga is one of the most greatest artist of all time. She has six Grammys and toured the whole world. But she is mostly known for her hit songs, and I've thought/wondered, "What if Lady Gaga is a Filipino?" Of course firstly, she will right Tagalog songs and will only be known by Filipinos.

     If Lady Gaga is a Filipino, most of her songs will be ballad especially in this generation. Because Filipinos listen more to ballad songs, also known as "The Hugot Songs" which is very different from Lady Gaga's vibe and genre of music. And when she dresses up, she will be very conservative or dress normally which is also different from her crazy outfits. She would rather wear a dress, a gown, or a pantsuit. Lady Gaga had a great impact to the world and changed the world this 21st century, so if she is a Filipino, our world would be very different from now.

     There are many different things that you can relate to Filipino stuffs or doings and Lady Gaga is one of my example. You can list anything that you want to relate to Filipinos and there will be changes that would happen if you compare them from each other.

    What are the Images of every people? What are the characteristics of them? There are good or bad in our society? Although we have been colonized by several countries, many core values from our ancestors remained intact and are still honored to this day. Filipinos are not perfect, but we have great characteristics and qualities every one of us should be proud of. 

  Filipinos or we say “Ang mga Pilipino” are the people who are native to, or identified with the country of the Philippines. They are the person or we are the person who live in this country with ideal. It is like an Electric fan this is for an example btw. They are easy to change by the mood itself, sometimes there are helping some person or making a nonsense like they are saying a bad things on that person who they not know. But, really? Filipino are doing a best by itself, so they can consider that there are doing the values of us.

      I will say what are real Filipino is and, what the other people want to us? And why some foreigners want to come back in the Philippines? We Filipino are Hospitality this is one of the most popular qualities of us filipino. Foreigners who have gone to the Philippines find themselves falling in love with the warm hospitality that we show. We Filipinos value our families so much that we tend to keep families intact through the generations and we are much religious, this can called the bond of every family Filipino so we can have a strong bond with God. We Filipinos are generous people. Even when we have very little, we always share with those around us. And this is the some positive things about us, and I will say that I’m in the part of being a generous Filipino, cause I wanted that every person have a perfect image.

   And what are negative things about us Filipino? I don't want the sound totally arrogant. Awesome as Filipinos are, we are not perfect. Yes! It's normal to be not perfect of that. There are some couple of more negative traits which also really represent Filipinos. Like Fatalism, this can sometimes be helpful in adversity, but it can also keep us from finding ways out of situations and last is Crab mentality, this is prevalent in politics where people tend to push each other down to clear the way for their own gain. But most important thing is every Filipino people are strong to find and fix the every problem of us.

Filipino are like robots, you can easily control them. It's like they don't have anything to choose from. They seems to be a lost puppy in the middle of the city. They just follow the things that are already planned or prepared for them. Is that how we want to live? Is that worth our lives? Then if not, who do you think we are?

Filipino possesses crab mentality, is it because we ate a lot of crabs? Of course not, right? Then why do we keep on pulling each other down if we can help each other to be on top. Filipino are always late because of the so called "Filipino Time" , is it because we have different time with other country? Well it's quite right but we can always be on time. We do know that the faster we do our things, the faster we can rest. Filipino have this unique ability, we can understand each other through signals but we're overusing it. We have this attitude that even if we're not yet allowed to cross the road, we still cross it then raise our hands like we are hypnotizing the person to stop. Filipino are courteous people that even we are oppressed, we still don't forget to respect others. We're too respectful that I don't know if we're being dumb or something. Filipino are so industrious, that's the reason why there's a lot of countries hire Filipino workers. Filipino are weird in a way especially when we are directing places. There's still a lot more to know about us.

Overall, Filipino are too blinded on how others treat them but being Filipino, we still manage to be polite and respectful. Filipino are great pretenders. We still smile, laugh and manage to be happy even we have a lot of problems to think about. Filipino may not be rich or popular country but at least being in the Philippines makes us happy. Always think that it's not our loss if others think that we're nothing, it's their loss for they don't take time to get to know us. So be proud of who we are, We are Filipino!

  Filipinos are known in the country of Philippines, we are known as rich in culture, traditions and other things. I must say Filipinos are unique among other people around the world. Being a true-blooded citizen of the Philippines it was a honored to pride of. What is the really being unique of the Filipinos? What makes a blooded "Pilipino" can be?

            We all know that Philippines would be not call as "Perlas ng Silanganan" without people, the Filipinos that according to the dictionary or in web; the word "Filipinos" is a native of the Philippine islands, so it means Filipinos are the foundation or the source of being rich in so many aspects. There are many characteristics that can be define as what Filipinos being unique of - hospitable; we are generous and willing to accept visitors  or guests, helpful; we are willing to help even it will take risk of much as we need sometimes we help even we don't have to offer but it is "bukal sa ating puso at kalooban", cheerful; in times we are still showing happiness and joy to others with/without complaining of, industrious or responsible; we are very active to do tasks,works or jobs even we are tired still doing it for the sake of others needs specially when it comes to family, courteous, as we can see some countries don't have a tradition like we have respectful doings such as saying 'po' and 'opo' we do it when we talk to those people who is ahead of age,  also Filipinos do 'mano po' to show respect to the elder or same as people that is ahead of age; optimistic Filipinos are positive people they see a small thing that can be a big thing happen or there is a good will happen when they believe and trust within themselves. Lastly being creative why? Filipinos are very wide when it comes to arts,dances,literature and others of it. Behind of all these characteristics "Filipino" has shown this in the past until now but not all, but then I or we believe that in this generation some people can make it a value and past it for more.

         All in all, we are must be proud of and must be diver to us our true value we have, because 'Filipinos' are 'Filipinos' the one that will do everything to live, has a hardworkship or "paninindigan". Filipinos are not afraid to face the reality in tagalog " Ang isang pilipino ay may paninindigan at lumalaban sa lahat ng oras at pinapatunayan na kahit ano man ang dumating problema ay masolusyonan".

Who is the real Filipino? Should we say "us"? We can just say that we are a real Filipino if we are proud of what we have and we have a strong faith in God and they really trust God.  A Filipino is full of love and specially always wear a smile no matter what happens in their lives. Being a Filipino can serve this country with all their heart and soul. A real Filipino has a characteristic of being cheerful,helpful and specially proudly of what just they have.

A Filipino they will fight of what they believe and Filipino not scared to face anything in this world.  A Filipino even if they don't have enough of money they can still survive and will not giving up of what kind of lives they have.

Look around in this country there has so a beautiful land, resources and anything that can they be proud of it. It is just simple yet still a wonderful view. A beautiful Philippines come and peaceful. That is a sign of being a Filipino.

A Filipino has a wonderful culture and full of talents. So I am a proud of being a Filipino and proudly  to represent it in the whole wide world. And to introduce to everyone of what beautiful country that we have and specially of what kind of characteristic of Filipino that we have. We Filipino has always a reason to smile even in times of disaster we are still smiling. THAT'S WHY I LOVE AND PROUD OF BEING A FILIPINO.

     We Filipinos have different characteristics that make us different from others. Something that we call unique and something that is truly ours. Let me tell you a few of the characteristics you can see in  molding an image of a Filipino. Together, let us visualize what a Filipino is.

       First is the use of "po" and "opo". In the Philippines, the use if these words are considered as a sign of respect, but have you imagined a certain someone who is not a filipino saying "po" and "opo"? It's kind of cute actually. But what if Valak, the demon nun from conjuring 2, would actually use such words? Gosh! That would be creepy. Anyway, another thing that Filipinos are known for is called the "Filipino Time". Filipinos are known for not being in time. -late in other words.Well, We all know that it's not a possitive thing but what can I say, it is still a Filipino thing. Can you actually imagine superheroes being late in their missions?If that happens,  we are so in trouble. It will really be hard to save the day if you are late. So, I'm hoping that Superheroes won't adapt this kind of behavior, like please! So for my last share of knowledge, I would like to ask you if you have been lost in a certain place before and decided to ask some stranger for help? Well if Yes, you are lucky if you asked a Filipino since we are very creative in telling directions. We don't simply state the directions, we use hand gestures in every turn you take and every move you make. We want it to be crystal clear for you be able to get want we are trying to say. It's kind of fun actually but the inportant thing here is for you to reach your destination safe and sound.

       So, there you have it! A few of the things we Fipilinos are known for. I also want to say that not all Filipinos have these characteristics, so come on, let us not stereotype but a huge number are actually like these too. Anyway, I hope we all learned something about filipinos. Let us continue to nourish the Filipino spirit!

                                            Filipinos traditions and culture play a vital role in our heritage. It embarks a huge amount of contribution in the present social status of the Filipino people. Different approaches, hand signals, non verbal cues and many more that you can only see here in the Philippines.

                                            Filipinos are everywhere, they can be a farmer who plants crops, a fisherman who wakes up early in the morning to catch fresh fish, a carpenter who builds houses with just nails, hammer and woods, a housewife who takes care other people just to feed her family, a construction worker who carries heavy loads for a minimum pay, a teacher who devotes his/herself in teaching to enrich the knowledge of the children, or they can be an OFW who take their chances abroad for big amount of salary for their families to ensure that they are receiving their daily necessities even though they are suffering back there.

Filipinos, I can say, are the most hardworking people that anyone could encounter because  they will do anything just to restore themselves in the enslavement of poverty. Likewise, Filipinos have the characteristic of being hospitable and courteous to other people especially to tourists and foreign delegates - we welcome them with medal made of flower and red carpet, we use welcoming words.  It's more fun in the Philippines - a trademark that you can see everywhere because it points out the beauty to be found here in the Philippines, like other countries there façade is elegant but if you're going to dig down likewise there's war, corruption and death and the most crucial part is Filipino against one another that’s why if Mahatma Gandhi is a Filipino he will made us realize that not everything that’s not settled must be put into war sometimes we need to understand one another and listen and forget ones personal agenda.

Filipino cuisines are just rich as other countries they contain stories of history and how as passed it develops and having many kinds or versions that passed through generation to generation. Filipinos are the true wonders of the Philippines, without them a great nation will fall because we Filipinos are also the one preserving the beauty and majesty of the Philippines that’s why up until we are the living witnesses of our heritage.

                                              We should learn to preserve the culture and traditions of the Philippines especially in this technology aided society because this is our pride as Filipino people - these cultures and traditions proved that we are a Filipino who lives in the orient seas.

IF SPIDER-MAN WAS A FILIPINO by Same Zhairra Del M. Rosario

       Unique,crazy,cool,weird...name it! Filipinos have different characteristics that other foreign countries doesn't have. Some may find it disrespectful, others may find it funny but every small gestures that we do are all part of every pieces that builds and made our culture and traditions known for. But, could you imagine a super hero adapts or more likely, become a Filipino? Would he's still be that cool and awesome or weird and funny?


       Superheroes, like Spider-Man, are known for saving lives. He rescues people from dangers and he comes at the right and perfect time where the commotion is in it's climax part, where the people needed him most, but would he'd still be able to rescue his poor fellow man in times of their need if his 'OTW' is actually means, 'On The Water'. Ridiculous right? Or can be also before he saves the lives of people in danger, he would first take a selfie and post it in the social media sites with the caption 'ATM' or at the moment. Yes, Filipino's are known for being tardy all the time but in contrast with this, you can see many advantages if Spider-Man was a Filipino. We, are brave enough to offer our lives to save others, specially when it comes to Family, we would risk it all. Only Filipinos have 'po' and 'opo' that are used to give respect not just to the elders but to each other. If we only observe it well our Funny and weird non-verbal cues reveals not just our culture and tradition but a personality and heart of a Filipino which is a 'soft bread' and undyingful love for others.

       Spider-Man suits perfectly to be a Filipino, because likewise to what he said, We, also believe and put to practice that "With a great power, comes a great responsibility.", maybe we are very much pre-occupied by what negative reaction and opinion that other blood tells us, but always remember that a blood that runs in every Filipino may be crazy or weird it'll always be cool and unique apart from others. Be Proud because you're a Filipino.

What is a Filipino? What makes them a Filipino? How can you distinguish if someone is a Filipino? A lot of aspects can tell and answer these questions. Let us enumerate each possible factors that makes a Filipino, Filipino.

One aspect that can help you identify if someone is a Filipino is the use and choice of words. For example, the Filipino expression "psssst" is only used here in the Philippines so when you go to a different country and utter this expression and then someone looks back, I guarantee you, that person is definitely a Filipino. You can also tell if someone is a Filipino through their hand gestures. Gestures that make them think that they have extraordinary powers. An example is when you are facing a lot of people in a specific environment, then you simply put your hands together in front of you and voila, they will automatically move away if you start walking. The mañana habit is also a factor in identifying if someone is a Filipino. The mañana habit is in the nature of Filipinos, they'd prefer not to do something immediately even if they have the chance to finish a task at that moment. And lastly, the most basic quality of a Filipino is the use of "po" and "opo". These words are usually used by the young Filipinos as a sign of respect and courtesy to their elders. This tradition has been passed on from generations to generations and it continues to reign up to now.

These aspects are only few factors in distinguishing if someone is a Filipino or not but can these aspects really define a Filipino? For me, yes it is possibly the best way to tell if someone is a Filipino for it was proven by time because indeed, these are what makes a Filipino.

     We Filipinos have many habits that makes us who we are. We almost do them everyday; in the morning, in the afternoon or in the night. Some of them are good or positive in a way but some of them are not. But what are the reasons why these habits makes us Filipinos? Do we really need to do these habits to make us Filipinos?

     I will show you the good and the bad habits of us Filipinos. The good habits of Filipinos are saying "po" and "opo" to show respect. We also do "mano" to also show respect. The bad habits of Filipinos are not following signs/rules, we sometimes do what we want. The Crab Mentality is also one of our bad habits, we pull someone down when they almost reach their goal. Now you know some of the habits of us Filipinos, what do you think? Will you do them or will you not?

     Well, we can say that us Filipinos have our good and bad side. You can do the good habits but that doesn't mean you can do the bad ones. All of us can't control our habits once we have done them several times. All of us aren't always good sometimes we do bad things too, it can't be helped. Besides, not all of our bad habits has bad effects, right? Don't think too much about following them or not because these habits what makes us Filipinos.

                                      Filipino have a different culture and traditons. Hospitality, respectful, generous, loving and caring are the characterestics that every Filipino has one of the best traits in the world, one of you must know. Although, we have been colonized by alaeveral countries, core values from our ancestors are remained and will never be lose or forget. We have a lot of things that only Filipino do like saying "po" and "opo", "pagmamano", the Filipino time, using lips for pointing something and many more. Monkey is one of the animals that really looks like a human and can be teach properly and easily. I'm wondering what if a animal like monkey has a same traits with Filipino prople?

                                      If monkey become a Filipino he/she will be so respectful, easy to approach, benign, melodious, trustworthy and not cruel. Is it so weird thinking that a monkey can be really a Filipino or lets say it is really weird if a monkey also has a same traits as ours and doing things that can only Filipino understand such as our unique gestures and giving so much love and care to the people surround hin/her. I want to teach the monkeys how to be a good Filipino, the true characteristics of Filipino that is really need to retain, then replace the people of the government and place the monkeys as the ruler of our country. People of the government are not acting like a Filipino but they are acting like a stupid crocodile and worthless snake, being drastic and acting like trustworthy but they are really fooling us and rob the money that is really belong to us.

                                     Monkey can be so powerful. Monkeys can be a Filipino, a true Filipino. Put the monkeys and give them a place in government to start the change in this country.

Filipino’s are one of the most outstanding people in the world, because they are unique, weird,and also respectful people.

There are some symbols that you can identify Filipino’s in other country like when they get “mano” into their elders, and when you do “paswit” they will stare at you because they know that you calling them. Filipino’s are unique, because of their foods like “ balot, penoy kinilaw, sinigang and last but not the list that they called “pambansang ulam” the adobo”.

Filipinos are powerful because they can stop a car in the road for the way that he raises his or her hand  while they walking. Filipinos are hard worker for earn money for their family in the Philippines.  They can work 24/7 for their family to have a budget or financial. When they in other country , when they have a rage or fight and there's a Filipino somewhere in their place, the Filipinos help each other. Because we have One Nation /Isang Lahi.

Filipinos are like photographs, sometimes weird, awesome but every time it is unique, right? It is definitely true that Filipinos are weird, why? Because we have this tradition of talking to others in a different way just like having code names and eye to eye contact like in photographs, there were images that was taken weird. Filipinos are awesome, indeed. They have their own way of gesturing and signing to other people like in photographs, most of the time images were taken awesome by the photographers. Filipinos are unique like photographs because Filipinos have their own tradition, culture and beliefs.

Filipinos as a photograph is a good simile to describe the Filipinos. It depicts how unique, awesome and weird Filipinos are. We all know that a photograph is the awesome result of what catches our eye and that makes a Filipino.
